New Moon in Capricorn (Jan 18th)

The Sun and Moon will join at 28 degrees of the sign of Capricorn on Saturday. And that means we’re in the liminal space between endings and beginnings that each new lunar cycle offers. The seeds you plant at this New Moon are a great way to set the tone not just for a new month, but for all of 2026. As witches, we typically honor the Spring Equinox as the time for new beginnings (versus the calendar year), and rightfully so! But as an astrologer, I also think the Capricorn New Moon is a sacred time for goal setting and planning. So consider, what do you hope to cultivate in different areas of your life in 2026? What are the smaller steps you could take to get to those endpoints?

In my opinion, now is the week to put pen to paper or speak our intentions into the Universe. You then have the rest of winter to marinate on them. And when Spring arrives, you will be ready to jump into action and start bringing your dreams to life! 

Aquarius season begins (Jan 19th)

Happy early birthday to all our Aquariuses at the studio! The season of the water bearer is upon us, and it’s time to channel David Bowie’s iconic song “Rebel Rebel”. One of Aquarius’ pop culture stereotypes is the rebel, but the energy is really just about being true to yourself! Time to lean into all the things that make you unique. Embody the fullness of YOU and remind yourself how free it feels when you do. 

These next 4 weeks are ruled by the Air element, so get curious. What’s capturing your attention right now? Don’t be worried if a hobby or idea seems “unconventional”. Take the class, read the book, watch the series, join the gaming group, set up the experiment, etc. Sometimes Aquarius energy gets a bad wrap for being aloof or set apart, but in actuality, this season is all about the connections you’ll develop with people on your same mental wavelength! 

And speaking of connection, you might feel an additional pull toward altruistic or humanitarian efforts this season. While Aquarius energy is certainly about freedom and individuality, it’s also about helping others reach those ideals. So if you feel called to volunteerism, community engagement, activism, or something else right now, follow your heart!  

Mars-Pluto conjunction (Jan 26 - 28)

The week of the 25th has a big start as two cosmic powerhouses (Mars & Pluto) join forces between January 26th and 28th. The most neutral thing I can say about this combo is that it is POWERFUL. The energy is driven, singularly-focused, and unstoppable. On the challenging side, people’s actions at this time could be ruthless, dominating, or selfish. There’s a bit of a destructive, “win at all costs” energy possible now, and I suspect we may see this play out on the world stage if not in our personal lives.  

However, there are positives to this combination too. These are excellent days for tackling a difficult work project, as well as blowing off steam in a workout, on a run, etc. This combination gives us an air of raw, primal power. You can use it to finally get “unstuck” in some area of life that’s been giving you a hard time. And while you should be careful not to provoke pointless fights this week, Mars-Pluto energy does give you the strength to defend yourself if a situation calls for it. (People with planets or angles between 2 - 4 degrees of Aquarius, Leo, Taurus, or Scorpio in their birth charts may notice this energy the most.)
